The beach clean 2022

Sunday, April 30, 2022, the dive team was on hand for the beach and inlet clean up sponsored by Board Dash, Captain Bills and Reds lobster pot. The team was to clean up along the seawall and others were on the beach and jetty and all over Point Pleasant beach.

Due to the tides the team was in the water early, Tommy L and Chris T were dropped in the water at Captain Bills and drifted down the inlet and Jim Sr and Jim Jr dropped in halfway down the inlet. As Chris, Tommy and the Jims finish their dive, debris started coming up, a long drainpipe, long pieces of wood, cans a car tire and a large piece of rubber hose was just a few things recovered.

Joe (OJ) and Chet dropped in last and work for almost an hour to recover a large lobster trap from the bottom. It took a lift bag and some digging before it came free from the bottom. It took all of our surface support (Rich, Sue, Perry) to pull it up and out of the water.

By the time the team was finished this section of the inlet was pretty well cleared of debris. The team checked in at clean up headquarters at Red Lobster Pot parking lot to let them know we were done. It was an outstanding job by everyone, there were two full dumpsters
with many more full bags of debris sitting on the ground.

Thank you to everyone for letting the team be part of clean up and to everyone for working so hard to make this a better place for everyone
